Cleaning out my bookmarks folder. *has random bookmarks*
I was browsing the blog of 1/2 Prince's manhua artist (Choi Hong Chong) awhile ago and bookmarkedsome a lot of his entries.
Process of drawing volume 5's cover + some other drawings (near the bottom)
He decided not to do any lineart before coloring for volume 5's cover. The drawing with Odd Squad and a huuuuge group of other people must have been super tough! He said the editor wanted something busy, so he drew a bunch of drafts trying to achieve that (with Odd Squad + Wicked) but he didn't feel any of them were lively and busy enough. And then he couldn't bring himself to leave anyone out... so he drew a ton of characters. XD; Drawing was included as a poster for the magazine 1/2 Prince runs in... I want that poster. =P Middle pic is of reindeer!Lolidragon.
Process of drawing volume 6's cover
Haha, he apologizes that after the drawing is shrunk, it looks like Sunshine has a beard. XD; Poor Sunshine!
Process of drawing volume 7's cover
Hahaha, Kenshin's hand changed position. Kenshin was supposed to be blocking Arctic Fox with his hand too. Choi Hong Chong says that this is what happens when he skips steps. He didn't want to spend that much time on the sketch, but he then thought he was putting too much emphasis on the top, so he had Kenshin draw his sword instead (so he moved his hand down).
Process of drawing volume 8's cover
He drew one version, thought their expressions looked weird, so he redrew. And then he found out in the end that he forgot to add Caelus's hair ornaments, so that was added last.
Process of drawing volume 9's cover
He cleaned up his sketch this time. ;D
Alternate versions of volume 9's cover
Awww, they were all so cute! He got pretty far with the 1st version, but then his editor said their pose looked too dead, so he did a version 2 with Wolf protecting Yulian (I like this one a lot!) but the editor turned it down again. So he did a bunch of sketches this time before he drew further. (I like the last one on the right a lot. Yulian looks very energetic in that one).
Process of drawing volume 10's cover
Wicked looks a lot cooler on this cover than he did on volume 4's cover. :3
Rough sketches for volume 10 (that he gave his company to choose from). I like number 4.
His art for cheering on Japan
This one made me laugh.
First, he talks about how his friends tell him that there's a huge gap between his rough drafts and his final drafts. Below the rough drafts, he talks about how 1/2 Prince is getting harder and harder to draw because Prince has a lot of companions. (He then says, how many? *shows a drawing* This many. *shows another drawing* This many. *shows another drawing* This many!!!) It really is a lot of people to draw. XD;
Prince in his rhino outfit...
Autograph board for a lucky person!
More autograph boards!
Something he drew for his middle school friend XD
History of his works from 1992 to now
Wow, his older works were quite different stylistically (and more complicated).
Some colored illustrations.
I might as well link to all of his entries. *laughs* I love seeing sketches and the steps people take while drawing~
